An exhibition of photographs by Željko Sinobad titled “Kafane” was opened in the gallery of the Svetozar Marković University Library.
Sinobad, considered the bard of Serbian photography, presented his brilliant series of photos depicting the joy and life in “kafana” (typical Serbian tavern).
“Every kafana has a story. I wanted to depict the life in the past and the people who were able to socialize, rejoice and share beautiful and bad things together as if they were a family,” says Sinobad.
During the exhibition, Igor Čoko, editor of Grain, Dimitrije Bukvić, journalist of the Politika daily and Željko Sinobad talked about old kafanas, that used to be a symbol of the city, and the new ones.
Sinobad’s exhibition depicts the life in kafanas since 1984 onward, from various asšpects. This is the fourth photo exhibition jointly realized by the digital magazine Grain and the Svetozar Marković University Library.
