President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping attended today a welcoming ceremony at the Palace of Serbia where later on the delegations of the two countries proceeded to the signing of 22 bilateral agreements.
Xi Jinping also met with Prime Minister of Serbia Aleksandar Vucić and the Speaker of the Serbian National Assembly Maja Gojković.
President of Serbia Tomislav Nikolić said that today Serbia and China are reliable partners and friendly countries, and it was said that these relations will certainly lead to further development of economic relations: “Serbia is a country that doesn’t need just any type of help, but it needs help to start working and this is what we expect, so as to conquer all the markets in the world. You and we have great friends in the world”, this is what Nikolić told Xi before their meeting, adding that the state visit of Xi to Serbia represents the fulfillment of his lifetime dream to make a connection between the people of Serbia and China in order to guarantee a both of them a better life.
Today, in the end of their meeting Xi was presented with the Order of the Republic of Serbia on a Grand Collar by Nikolić.
Xi Jinping said that the quality of relations between two countries is profound and of high-quality and that his country is ready to take the relations with Serbia to an even higher level: “We are ready to strengthen the level of relations between our two countries that has been nurtured by previous generations”, stated Xi, who also said that he appreciated the warm and friendly atmosphere that he encountered during his stay in Serbia. “We will jointly sign the Joint Declaration on the Establishment of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Our relations are not only the sign of collaboration and friendship, but also of mutual sharing of the same values. Our nations love peace and from generation to generation have tried hard to preserve their own sovereignty, territorial integrity and safety. We are talking about two nations that are extremely strong and China, along with you, is ready to give its contribution to maintain peace in the world in order to create not only a community of interest, but also of destiny that doesn’t concern just these two countries, but the whole world”, concluded Xi.
During his three-day state visit Xi yesterday laid a wreath at the site of former Chinese Embassy destroyed during the NATO bombing in 1999, laid the cornerstone for the construction of the Chinese Culture Centre, unveiled the monument to Confucius and opened the street dedicated to Confucius and the Serbia-China Friendship Square.
