Workers from Open Balkan countries can now use a single online platform

A single labour market made of the Open Balkan countries – Serbia, Albania and North Macedonia –  became operational on March 1, while electronic services are available to citizens of these countries on the eGovernment website – .

From now on, they can access the Open Balkans Identification Number service on the eGovernment website, which previously was available only to Serbian citizens. The citizens of Albania and North Macedonia can now also use the Free Access to the Labour Market provided they have registered with their respective e-government websites and have been given the Open Balkan identification number.

The interested parties, like workers who want to work in one of the Open Balkan countries, can access the e-government website of the country in which they intend to be employed and submit a request for free access to that country’s labour market. The country of destination makes a final decision after conducting a check, no later than within 30 days from the date of submission of the request. After receiving the approval, the interested party can start working in a designated country, under the same conditions as a local citizen of the country, for up to two years, and after the expiration of this period, they can extend their work engagement.
