Winter tyres mandatory from 1st November

The winter season is approaching and drivers have about one more month to prepare for unfavourable weather conditions and replace any summer tyres.

From 1 November to 1 April, according to the Road Safety Act, if there is snow or ice on rods, drivers must have all four winter tyres on their cars, reminds the Auto-Moto Association of Serbia.

This is not such a small expense, and winter tyre prices vary greatly depending on the manufacturer and size. On average, the cheapest new tyres cost around 5,000 dinars, but the most expensive ones can cost over 20,000 dinars. If one chooses used tyres, one can reduce costs considerably.

On top of that, there is the cost of the car mechanic who has to install and balance the tyres. The price for replacing a tyre is around 450 dinars, but depending on its size, it can vary up to 600-700 dinars at most.

The fine for drivers who don’t change their tyres to winter ones ranges from 10,000 to 20,000 dinars, for companies from 50,000 to 200,000 and for legal persons from 100,000 to 800,000 dinars. Of course, this only applies when the weather conditions on the road are bad, namely between November and April.
