What are favourite cars in Serbia?

The sale of used vehicles and cars in Serbia is booming and is expected to continue to do so in the future.

The average age of vehicles in the country is about 14 years, with the one produced by the now defunct Zastava automobile factory being the oldest. The south of the country drives the oldest cars, while the capital has the newest used cars.

According to data from the Automobile and Motor Association of Serbia (AMSS), the biggest problem is that these vehicles are mostly technically defective. As many as 40 percent of the vehicles have a defective brake system, and 18 percent of the cars also have a problem with the steering system.

The sale of used vehicles in Serbia has increased in recent years by an average of 20 to 40 percent which clearly shows that old cars will continue to be driven here and it seems that the trend will remain the same in the coming years.

The 10 best-selling new vehicle models in Serbia are: Fiat 500L, Škoda Fabia, Škoda Octavia, Fiat Tipo, Kia Sportage, Škoda Superb, Dacia Sandero, Hyundai Taxon, Toyota Corolla, and Renault Clio.

When it comes to used cars, the following models are the most popular: Volkswagen Golf, Volkswagen Passat, Fiat Punto, Volkswagen Polo, Opel Astra, Opel Corsa, Audi A4, Renault Clio, Vitroen C3 and BMW 3 Series.

The sales of the new Fiat model have been up for some time, which can be explained by the fact that Fiat has a factory in Serbia and that it offers good sales conditions. Apart from its attractive price, Fiat vehicles are popular in Serbia also because they are quite practical, adaptable and perfect for both families and young people. It is suitable for dense city traffic and is the most popular vehicle among the drivers in Belgrade, Novi Sad and Niš.
