The next summit dedicated to the Western Balkans, that takes place under the Berlin Process, will be held on 9th and 10th July in London, and with one of the main topics being digital transformation assistance – says Andrew Paige, the UK Coordinator of the Western Balkan Summit.
He said at the Kopaonik Business Forum that the UK expressed the wish to remain committed to helping the Western Balkans region despite Brexit.
“The priorities will be economic stability, the integration of countries in the region, further development of infrastructure – roads, railways – assistance in digital transformation and entrepreneurship for young people,” said Paige.
He underlined that there unemployment was still high in the region, especially among young people, and added that the Summit would also address issues pertaining the Berlin Process.
Paige also said the Summit would deal with a special set of issues such as assistance in the fight against corruption, organized crime, human and drug trafficking, support for the cooperation between the ministries of interior and security services in the region, as well as missing persons.
He reminded that a successful EBRD summit for the Western Balkans was held at the end of February in London, and added that the 4th Industrial Revolution created a great opportunity for the entire region, while underlining that digital literacy should start at very early age, with children in nurseries.
