Vučić: Reality is different from CRTA’s poll

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, stated today, regarding the latest CRTA poll according to which nearly ten per cent more citizens would vote for the student list than for the SNS, that reality is harsh and completely different from what CRTA’s data shows.

He added that such results are the consequence of the unprofessionalism and propagandistic nature of this non-governmental organisation (NGO), which aims to boost activism among those who wish to overthrow the government on the streets.

‘I am happy if CRTA says that. It carries several consequences. They have to explain where the students lost 25 percentage points, or rather 55 per cent of their popularity. Let me remind you, those very people from CRTA were saying they had 70 per cent. It seems they have lost 50 per cent of their support somewhere,’ Vučić said.

He was responding to a request to comment on whether he is worried by CRTA’s polling, according to which as many as 44.9% of citizens would vote for the student list, 35.7% for the SNS, and the SPS would pass the electoral threshold.

Vučić pointed out that citizens should remember such claims, asserting that the actual difference will prove to be much larger, but not in favour of the so-called student list.

‘And it is good for people to know that, so that when they hear them, even on election day, they know that these are not objective observers, nor some non-governmental organisation, but people who, in the worst possible way, promote both violence and, I would say, very bad, poor values in our country,’ he stated.

He added that CRTA is doing this because this is their last opportunity to try and gain something through deception, and to boost optimism and activism among those who would overthrow the government on the streets.

‘And what is very important, thirdly, is so that they can implement ideas of violently overthrowing the constitutional order, in order to tell people: “The results were different, or a particularly drastically different result – that is the result of theft.” Fourthly, they hope that they will somehow convince someone to vote for someone in that way.

Unfortunately for them, reality is harsh and completely different. But to us, this speaks of unprofessionalism, a lack of seriousness, a propagandistic character, and whatever other kind of activity you want to attribute to CRTA,’ Vučić stated.

According to an opinion poll conducted in June by CRTA and the Democracy Action Lab (DAL) of Stanford University, as reported by certain media outlets, the student list has the highest support at 44.9%, the SNS is supported by 35.7% of decided voters, and the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) by 3.8% of respondents.
