The President of Serbia and head of the United Serbia electoral list, Aleksandar Vučić, reiterated this morning his stance that, if he becomes Prime Minister, the government will have 12 ministers.
He also added that he will do his utmost to replace at least 50% of mayors and municipal presidents across Serbia within three months of the government being formed.
“Those people didn’t want to listen to their fellow citizens; they thought more about themselves than about them, and that’s why it is important to show the courage and determination to bring about such changes,” Vučić told Radio Belgrade.
Asked whether he still intends to resign as president after travelling to New York for the United Nations General Assembly, he answered in the affirmative and reiterated that he will do so on Sunday, 27 September.
He said he found it “incredible” to see how many people are “particularly rejoiced” by this, adding that he believes he has served his country “faithfully, loyally and honourably,” and that the accusations levelled against him while in office were sometimes “stupid,” sometimes “ridiculous,” and sometimes “hurtful.”
“You’ll see, if they win the election, they’ll just be begging me not to run in any future elections. You’ll suddenly see that they have nothing anywhere on me, since I haven’t stolen a single dinar, nor have I done anything against my country. And then you’ll see how difficult it is to run the country, and you’ll see how many more problems there will be and how much worse it will get,” Vučić assessed.
