Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said today that he plans to resign from his position in the near future.
Speaking on the programme On Wednesday with Bojana Bilbija on Radio Belgrade’s First Channel, Vučić was asked whether he intended to step down in three or four months’ time. He replied, “Perhaps even sooner.”
“I’ve already started packing up my books at the Presidency. I have a lot of books, and I’m trying to figure out where to put them,” Vučić said.
He stressed that he thinks about running for Prime Minister every day and added that he has an important meeting scheduled for this evening.
Vučić also said that elections would be held “in a few months’ time”, adding that whether they take place in three or four months is “a technical matter”.
“The elections will be in three or four months. They will not be held in July or August, but whether they are formally called during that period is another question,” Vučić said.
