The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, posted a photo together with his son Danilo, Ivica Dačić and his son Luka, with a caption ‘preparing for a busy week’. The President also confirmed that he had agreed with Dačić ‘on everything regarding strategic cooperation between the two parties’.
“Luka Dačić, my Danilo and I are drinking beer, Ivica is having coffee. He hid his cigarette so as not to lose points in politics. Since we have agreed on everything related to the strategic cooperation of our political parties, it is time to relax in Belgrade Waterfront and prepare for a busy week,’ reads the description under the photo posted on the Serbian president’s Instagram profile.
Alcohol and family reunions aside, this photo is interesting for another reason according to the Nova portal. There are no official announcements as yet on whether Dačić will be given a seat in the new government, but based on the atmosphere of this photo, media speculation and Vučić’s statements, that is almost a done deal. According to unofficial information, Dačić’s Socialist Party of Serbia is set to get four government positions, while its leader Ivica Dačić was offered the post of defence minister, but he turned it down.
According to Nova’s sources, Dačić has expressed a willingness to take on the Foreign Ministry, but he will most likely be the new Interior Minister, a position he held for two terms – from 2008 to 2012 and from 2012 to 2014.
It is expected that the current Education Minister Branko Ružić will also remain in the government, but it is unclear in which capacity as there is talk of dividing the ministry into two – one for education and one for science.
