The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, stated today that the Belgrade-Budapest high-speed railway is “finished” and that testing is currently underway.
Vučić said that “yesterday or the day before”, the train that will operate on that route, Soko, entered Hungarian territory for test runs.
“We are still working on the protocol for the Kelebija border crossing, but that is progressing well. There will be a stop of around 20-25 minutes, so the journey from the centre of Belgrade to the centre of Budapest will take about three hours or three hours and five minutes,” Vučić said during a visit to the construction site of the specialised EXPO 2027 exhibition in Belgrade.
He added that, according to current data, 20 more countries would take part in that specialised exhibition than at the previous one in Astana.
“I believe there will be even more participants, and that it will be hard for anyone ever to surpass that,” the president said.
