Subotica is becoming the European production centre for the American company AMETEK’s O’Brien programme, under which a new manufacturing base is being established for solutions in the field of process instrumentation and industrial systems, the company said in a statement.
The new European production site of the US manufacturer of electronic instruments and measuring devices will be fully operational this April and will serve to produce a broad portfolio of O’Brien solutions intended for industrial instrumentation and process applications, as reported by the British industry portal Instrumentation.
The new facility will manufacture TracePak and StackPak heated tubing bundle systems, non-heated tubing bundles, as well as GRP instrumentation enclosures (Vipak) and GRP protective shelters. These include heated and insulated tubing bundles for the transport and protection of samples in analytical systems, process sample transport systems, and enclosures and protective units for instruments and analytical equipment.
Solutions within the O’Brien portfolio are used in the oil and gas, petrochemical, energy and process industries, where reliable protection and transport of samples in analytical and process systems are essential. Until now, these products have largely been supplied from factories in the United States, resulting in long delivery times and high transport costs. The company states that the aim of opening the new facility is to localise production for the European market, shorten delivery times, reduce dependence on transatlantic logistics, and increase flexibility in the execution of industrial projects.
With this new investment, Subotica is further positioning itself as a European production hub for the O’Brien portfolio, thereby expanding AMETEK’s existing base in Serbia and introducing a new production segment intended for the European market, the statement adds.
The O’Brien programme has not previously been manufactured in Serbia, although AMETEK has been present in Subotica for more than a decade, producing various industrial components and systems for the global market at its local campus.
Dunkermotoren was effectively the first major investment in 2012, when the German manufacturer of micromotors began operations in Subotica, later becoming part of AMETEK.
The AMETEK business campus was opened in 2017 in the Mali Bajmok industrial zone and covers around 10,000 square metres. Within it, brands such as Grabner Instruments (oil and gas testing instruments, facility opened in 2021), MAE (an Italian motor manufacturer), Spectro (analytical instruments) and CTS (compliance testing solutions) carry out production.
