US company Databricks to open a development centre in Belgrade

The American IT company, Databricks, will open a development centre in Belgrade, which will be one of the most important hubs for the company.

“We are pleased to announce the opening of the Databricks development centre in Belgrade. This addition joins our existing research and development centres in Amsterdam, Bengaluru, Berlin, San Francisco and Seattle, playing a key role in the future trajectory of our product expansion and engineering”, the company said.

Databricks also invited people to apply for positions in the company. “Starting today, we call upon world-class engineers to join our Belgrade founding team, whether you are currently based in the region or live abroad and hope to return home,” the company added.

The company also announced the management of the Serbian department.

“To launch the site, we are delighted to welcome Dragan Tomic to the Databricks family. With more than two decades of experience in Microsoft’s renowned database group and as one of the founders of the Microsoft Development Center Serbia (MDCS), Dragan will serve as Vice President of Engineering and lead our Belgrade location. Dragan is accompanied by Ivan Mitic and Tamara Novkovic. Ivan was most recently responsible for the performance and efficiency of Meta’s internal storage systems. After more than a decade in the United States, Ivan will return to his roots in Belgrade to join Databricks. Tamara is an experienced recruiter who helped build TomTom and Microsoft’s local development teams,” Databricks said.
