Union of Employers calls for proper regulation of remote work

The Union of Employers of Serbia (Unija Poslodavaca Srbije) has called on the government to adopt qualitative labour regulation for new employment formats that have become part of everyday life, such as remote or home-based work, stating that the initiative has already been sent to the Social and Economic Council.

As pointed out, the Union of Employers of Serbia believes that it is necessary to carefully analyze the advantages and disadvantages of atypical forms of work, in order to ensure the competitiveness of the national economy and improve the working conditions of employees.

Therefore, it is necessary to clarify the differences between work from home and remote work through an appropriate framework and to introduce the possibility of regulating this type of work so that employees spend part of their working time at home.

The Union also believes that it is necessary to define the obligations regarding equipment and means of work, compensation for labour costs, as well as the obligations of employers regarding safety at work. It was also pointed out that these and many other aspects of working from home are not currently regulated and are therefore subject to arbitrary assessments and decisions, which do not benefit either employers or employees.

The initiative of the Union of Employers of Serbia has been forwarded to the Social and Economic Council, after which, if approved, it will be forwarded to the relevant authorities in Serbia.
