The next year marks two decades since Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic was assassinated. After this unfortunate event, a state of emergency was introduced and an extensive police operation, code name “Sablja” (“Saber”), was launched, which aimed to arrest all persons involved in the assassination.
The upcoming series about this tragic period in Serbian history will bear the same name, and will probably air on TV in the region next year. Serbia’s This and That Productions, the Croatian Drugi Plan and the Bulgarian Agitprop will produce the series.
The main characters of the series are a journalist investigating the murder of the prime minister, a police inspector and a young criminal. The journalist will be portrayed by the Serbian-Danish actress Danica Ćurčić, who is best known to the audience for her role in the Netflix crime drama Chestnut Man.
Zoran Djindjić will be played by Uliks Fehmiu, who has already played the role of the former prime minister in “Family”, the series about the arrest of Slobodan Milošević.
