Transport Minister announces 12% higher toll as of mid-July

The 12% increase in toll will be most probably implemented between July 15th and 20th, but the Serbian National Parliament previously needs to adopt the proposal for higher prices, Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Zorana Mihajlovic stated today.

She said that that the proposal would be on the Parliament’s agenda on Friday, June 28th.

“When the Parliament adopts the proposal, it will be published in the Official Gazette seven or eight days later, and public enterprise Roads of Serbia (Putevi Srbije) will then ask the government to approve the new prices. I think that the new prices would be applicable between July 15th and 20th this year,” the minister said.

She added the construction work on the transport corridors were near completion, adding that those corridors would be the shortest route between the east and the west, which, in turn, meant that a large segment of cargo and passenger traffic would be redirected to pass through Serbia.

The director of public enterprise Roads of Serbia, Zoran Drobnjak, said that the company would spend an additional 2 billion dinars in road maintenance.
