The Serbian Business Registers Agency (APR) has published the “Report on the TOP 100 Companies in 2022”, ranking companies per operating income, net profit, operating property and capital, net loss and overall loss.
The most profitable and successful company is the Petroleum Industry of Serbia (NIS), followed by Serbia Zijin Mining, Serbia Zijin Copper, Telekom Srbija and SCM Power. Successful and highly profitable companies, as per the operating income, with big financial capacities, also include Srbijagas, Delhaize Serbia and Tigar Pirot.
The company that generated the biggest losses is Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS). Other public enterprises that recorded the biggest losses include Roads of Serbia (JP Putevi Srbije), GSP Beograd (Belgrade public transport company), JP PEU Resavica (mining company) and JP Elektrokosmet (power company).
“Although the business environment was under a strong influence of political and economic tensions, followed by a crisis in the supply of energy sources and an accelerated inflation, the trend of the growth of the local economy continued, along with an increase in profitability”, the SBRA says on its website.
In 2022, the hundred companies with the biggest operating income generated 29.9% of the operating income of the entire Serbian economy, while employing 15% of the total number of workers in the country.
The list is dominated by big corporations (98), which generated 98.6% of the operating income of the listed companies. Of the observed hundred companies, the majority is creditworthy (62), with 35 having a good credit rating. The majority of the companies from the list (88) are among the hundred leading companies by operating income in 2021 as well.
