Epidemiologist Branislav Tiodorović said today that the current measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus implemented by the government’s Crisis Response Team should remain in force and that no new provisions are needed at the moment.
As mentioned, changes in the measures are not possible now because too little time has passed since the Omicron strain appeared in Serbia, which is why there is no clear study and a complete view of the situation.
“Everyone is talking about how Scandinavian countries are lifting the measures. Yes, but between 85 and 90% of their population is vaccinated,” said Tiodorović.
The expert assessed that it is too early to draw conclusions about Omicron and its new strain, but, according to him, it can be said that we are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel: “In time, the pandemic will become an endemic phenomenon, but that does not mean that it will not be dangerous for some people.”
