Epidemiologist Branislav Tiodorović said today that he was confident that that the new school year will start regularly because no significant increase in the number of coronavirus infections is expected by October.
Tiodorović also said one of the main prerequisites for students to stay in school throughout winter is that as many of them as possible be vaccinated.
He added that, at the last meeting of the government’s Crisis Response Unit, the authorities were required to implement measures that will help paediatricians and selected doctors to more frequently advise parents in favour of vaccinating their children against the coronavirus.
“Children will be vaccinated in local health centres, at checkpoints that all pediatric services in the country already have. Paediatricians are obliged to recommend vaccination, and it is up to the parents to make the final decision,” said Tiodorović.
In Serbia, the COVID-19 vaccine has been approved for children aged 12 and older.
