Three foreign companies interested in purchasing Paraćin Glass Factory

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated today that the glass factory in Paraćin (Srpska Fabrika Stakla) would become operational again and that investors from Switzerland, Austria and Slovenia were interested in acquiring it.

“I believe that we have three interested bidders – the Swiss, the Austrians and the Slovenes,” Vučić said while visiting Despotovac.

To remind, the Commercial Court of Kragujevac declared the company’s bankruptcy and ordered the bankruptcy supervisor to initiate the procedure of monetization of the bankruptcy estate without delay.

Srpska Fabrika Stakla was founded in 1907. It is located in what was previously a textile factory in Pančevo, which burnt down in a fire. A group of Belgrade-based merchants decided to open a glass factory solely with local capital. The first factory had 14 containers for the production of hollow and pressed glass, and it employed 350 workers, mostly from the Czech Republic.
