The University of Belgrade is ranked 348th out of 2,000 universities in the world in the newly published Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) for the school year 2022/23.
This year, the results of 19,788 universities were analysed and the Global 2000 list includes higher education institutions from 96 countries. In terms of national rank, the University of Belgrade is the best in Serbia, followed by the University of Novi Sad which ranked 1,117th, the University of Kragujevac 1,622nd and the University of Niš 1,635th.
The top 10 universities in the world on the latest CWUR list are Harvard, MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), Stanford, Cambridge, Oxford, Princeton, the University of Chicago, Columbia University, the University of Pennsylvania and the California Institute of Technology.
Looking at the former Yugoslav republics, following the University of Belgrade, the University of Ljubljana was ranked 416th and the University of Zagreb 529th.
Of the top 10 best-ranked universities in the world, eight are located in the United States, as has been the case since the ranking began in 2012, which is also the most represented country among the top 2000 with 335 universities. Harvard, Stanford and MIT are also the most cited universities in the world. All Ivy League schools are among the top 70 this year.
