The Ministry of Economy has announced the launch of a set of measures providing grants and favourable loans aimed at micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, said today the Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia, Adrijana Mesarović.
Speaking to Prva TV, she stated that 380,000 small business owners are currently registered across the country, with women and young people under the age of 35 making up the dominant share.
“Two weeks ago we announced a set of measures at the request of President Vučić. I invite all our businesspeople from the small business sector and entrepreneurs to make use of the strong, never more intensive support in the form of grants. From 50 to 55 per cent, and in some cases up to 100 per cent, we provide grant funding. Where the grants cover up to 50 per cent, the remainder is secured through favourable loan funds,” said Mesarović.
She added that, in cooperation with Poštanska Štedionica bank, loans of up to 15 million dinars are available for financing permanent working capital and up to 15 million dinars for new investments, with an annual interest rate of 2.5 per cent.
“These are very current loans and so-called free loans, with a repayment period of 60 months for investment loans and 36 months for loans intended for permanent working capital. The conditions are flexible and accessible to all businesspeople,” Mesarović emphasised.
According to her, support is also directed towards those who are only planning to establish their own businesses, as well as towards women in rural areas, with the aim of strengthening the economic position of women in rural communities.
“Grant allocations have been doubled this year. Recently, you heard the President of the Republic say that we doubled the grants for winemakers and producers of distillates from five to ten million. I invite everyone from the wine industry to apply,” said Mesarović.
She pointed out that, for the first time, a programme includes producers of cheese and other dairy products made from 100 per cent Serbian ingredients, and that grant funding and favourable loan funds have also been secured for the processing of fruit and vegetables from Serbian raw materials.
“There is also, for the first time, a programme for the production of leather and textile clothing items. Our well-known programme for start-ups and young people under 35 continues. The programme for our exporters is also still active. I invite all businesspeople to apply and take advantage of the support provided by our state,” Mesarović said, as reported by Tanjug.
