The Belgrade premiere of the famous musical “The Phantom of the Opera”, written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and directed by Jug Radivojevic, will take place at the Terazije Theatre, on Saturday, 7th October, with over 200 actors and singers performing.
“It took us six months to prepare this musical because it is exceptionally demanding in every single segment. This is an excellent fusion of opera and musical. Our rendition of ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ is a story about love being the most beautiful and the biggest human strength what evokes the best in people”, says Jug Radivojevic.
Considering how challenging this musical is, the Terazije Theatre decided to a two-part-premiere – first one will take place on 7th October, and the second one on 10th October.
The Phantom of the Opera is a musical based on a novel by French writer Gaston Leroux. It was first published as a serialisation in Le Gaulois from 23rd September, 1909 to 8th January 1910.
The musical talks about a young soprano called Christine who becomes obsessed by a disfigured musical genius who lives beneath the Paris Opera House. He kidnaps the soprano and forces the owners of the play to keep her as the lead role.
