The most sought-after professions in Serbia according to Infostud

According to the job site Poslovi.infostud, 2019 saw a 14% increase in job offers compared to 2018. Last year, more than 225,000 job candidates had the chance to find a job in 48,893 ads.

As, in previous years, the sectors with the most job offers were commerce/sales, IT, mechanical engineering, administration and electrical engineering, while the most sought after positions were salesman, accountant, driver, warehouse operator and telephone operator.

Despite the increase in the number of job advertisements and the number of candidates submitting applications for vacancies, the average number of applications is still slightly down. In 2019, an average of 65 candidates per ad responded.

Ads in foreign languages accounted for 24% of the total job ads, with most of them published in English, followed by German, Hungarian and Russian.

There is also an increase in ads for people with disabilities (8% in total). In 2018, there were 2,845 of these ads, while in 2019, they were almost 30% more, i.e. 3,693, notes Infostud.

Speaking of IT ads, the most searched positions in the last year were JavaScript Developer, Java Developer, PHP Developer, .NET Developer and IT Help Desk / Support.

In terms of seniority, the highest number of advertisements concerned mid-level positions (64%), followed by senior positions (21%) and junior positions (only 14%).

Jobs for which it is difficult to find staff were hairdresser, carpenter, butcher, baker, metal turner and dyer.

On the other hand, positions that saw the biggest number of candidates apply were salesman, accountant, production manager and telephone operator.
