The Guča Trumpet Festival starts today

The 61st Guča Trumpet Festival kicked off this morning with the traditional raising of the flag.

This is one of the largest and most important musical events in Serbia dedicated to the trumpet, which, according to musicologists, is the only original and typical instrument in the region.

In addition to the exhibition of domestic handicrafts, the Festival also has a competition for the best trumpeter or brass orchestra.

Starting at 6 p.m., youth trumpet orchestras from Serbia will compete on the stage of the Guča Cultural Centre. At 8 p.m., the Bosnian group Divanhana will perform the sevdalinka music, and the programme then continues on the main stage where Danica Crnogorčević, a Montenegrin performer of traditional, ethnic and spiritual music, will perform from 9 p.m.

The first trumpet concert will take place at 10:00 p.m. with Dejan Jevdjić’s orchestra, and an hour later the biggest star among trumpet players, Dejan Petrović and his Big Band will perform. The Midnight Concert begins at midnight.

The complete festival programme is available at the Festival’s official website .
