According to the leading site for hiring IT professionals in Serbia, Helloworld.rs, the average net salary of a Serbian software developer is 1,225 euro. The highest-paid position is Software Engineer with the amount of 7,500 euro net, paid out in Belgrade. The research was conducted from July 2020 to February 2021.
Salary in the IT industry depends on several factors. Seniority, i.e. years of relevant experience, comes first, so the average salary of a senior programmer is 1,724 euro, 1,144 euro with an average experience and 736 euro of a junior programmer.
In addition to seniority, salary also depends on the programmer/software developer’s knowledge of programming languages. Therefore, the top five highest-paid positions in the IT industry are:
Technical Lead with an average salary of 2,520 euro
Delivery Manager with an average salary of 2,300 euro
Solution Architect with an average salary of 2,258 euro
Software Architect with an average salary of 2,244 euro
Chief Technology Officer (CTO) with an average salary of 2,029 euro
In addition to the programmer’s knowledge, the city in which the company is based also matters. So, the average salaries per city are – Belgrade with an average of 1,664 euro, Novi Sad 1,104 euro, Niš 1,229 euro, Subotica 831 euro and Kragujevac with 1,196 euro.
The most profitable positions in the IT industry, per location, are:
- in Belgrade, it is a Software Engineer with a net salary of 7.500 euro
- in Novi Sad, Software Developer and IT manager with a net salary of 3,000 euro
- in Niš, is the position of Technical Lead and a net salary of 3,500 euro
- in Subotica, Software Architect with a net salary of 1,700 euro
- in Kragujevac, is the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) with a net salary of 2,800 euro
