From 7 to 9 August, the Serbian trumpet capital – Guča – will once again become the stronghold of tradition, pride, and the irreplaceable Serbian musical ethos.
The festival kicks off on Friday in grand style, with the hoisting of the festival flag and the intoning of the festival anthem “Sa Ovčara i Kablara”, in the presence of the festival hosts. That same evening, at the Dragačevo stadium, the audience will be enchanted by Slobodan Trkulja and Balkanopolis. Immediately after them, the Dejan Petrović Big Band takes the stage, promising a fusion of traditional melodies and modern rhythms.
Saturday is reserved for pure quality and the history of Guča. The programme opens with the “They Won – They Deserved It” concert, where last year’s laureates (the orchestras of Vladimir Ivanović, David Bajramović, Dragan Pavlović, and the Knjaževac orchestra from Knjaževac) will demonstrate why they hold the throne. Following them, the stage will be taken over by true greats and masters of the trumpet whose names are synonymous with the assembly: the undisputed trumpet master Boban Marković, the virtuoso of gentle yet powerful sound trumpet master Dejan Lazarević, and the king of the southern ethos, trumpet master Ekrem Mamutović.
Sunday brings the climax and the very core of the assembly – the Final Competition of Trumpet Orchestras of Serbia “Sa Ovčara i Kablara”, where the best of the best will battle it out for the prestigious festival awards.
While waiting for the announcement of the new winner of the 65th Assembly, the audience can expect a spectacular concert by the Folk Orchestra conducted by Vlada Panović, supported by the orchestra of trumpet master Dejan Jevđić. As special guests of the evening, legends of our music scene – Nada Topčagić, Rade Jorović, Marina Stankić, and Nenad Manojlović – will sing the greatest folk hits, while the honour of closing this year’s jubilee assembly will go to the orchestra of trumpet master Dejan Jevđić.
