Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj and Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi have activated a team that will be engaged in the drafting of the Statute of the Community of Serb Municipalities (ZSO).
According to a statement from the Kosovo government, “drafting the Statute will be a transparent and comprehensive process, which will be implemented with the help of the three working mechanisms: the Steering Group, the Implementation Commission and the National Consultative Group, which will guarantee the participation of the entire political spectrum, civil society and other relevant mechanisms of society.”
The Kosovo government also says that international bodies will be included in this process too as this is considered an important step on the Euro-Atlantic path of Kosovo, the Koha daily reports.
At the end of the process, the final draft of the statute, together with the directive, will be sent to the constitutional court to ensure full compliance with the Kosovo Constitution.
The statement from Thaci’s cabinet also says that it welcomes the readiness of the Kosovo government to put into operation the Steering Committee for the drafting of the Statute of the Municipalities of the Serbian Municipalities. Thaci was also quoted as saying that that was another important step in Kosovo fulfilling its international obligations.
The Kosovo President concluded that Kosovo was committed to dialogue and building good relations between all communities living there.
