Tender for construction of Linijski Park in Belgrade launched

The Belgrade authorities have launched a tender for the preparation of technical documentation and the construction of Linijski Park. The total value of the framework agreement is 8.27 billion dinars without VAT or approximately 70.7 million euros.

The contract includes the drafting of the preliminary and technical documentation, and the construction of Linijski Park and the underground garage with its circulation infrastructure, the pedestrian area in front of the 25. Maj – Milan Gale Muškatirović Hall and the area around the Monument to the Belgrade Defenders. The plan entails to two locations, the first divided into 9 sub-units and the second including an underground garage.

The design task, among other things, includes research work and the creation of a conservation-restoration project for the restoration and presentation of the riverside bastion of the Belgrade Fortress, greening up by preserving the existing vegetation and adapting the garden elements to the style of the park and landscape architecture, with lighting and installations. In these sub-units, the plan envisages 6 urban gardens, i.e. elevated planting boxes, and a vertical urban garden with aromatic and mosquito-repellent plants.

The work in sub-unit 6 will include the construction of a multifunctional structure of an ecological and educational centre, which, it is claimed, should present interesting content for visitors with the aim of educating them in the application of solutions inspired by nature, the circular economy, biophilic design, and innovative technologies. The ground floor of the building will have a multifunctional room for presentations and exhibitions and a data centre for the EUpolis project (the equipment for the data centre is not part of this public tender), while the building’s roof will be flat and green with a roof garden open to visitors. The building facades will be constructed as a green wall.

As for the underground garage, it will have two levels and a total of 550 parking spaces, spanning over 1,500 square metres, on the site of the existing outdoor car park. Access is planned from Nova Road 1, above the garage. The renovation of the existing city public transport terminus and the access road is also planned.

Linijski Park in Belgrade is modeled after the High Line Park in New York.
