Telenor: 30mln EUR investment in development of 4G

In 2017, Telenor will invest 30mln EUR in development of its network in Serbia, and the company plans to have at least 80% of the country covered by 4G network in the first half of this year.

CEO of Telenor Serbia, Ingeborg Øfsthus said that, in 2016, the usage of mobile Internet substantially increased and added that Telenor covered 50% of the entire mobile internet traffic in Serbia.

 Øfsthus also added that, in 2015 and 2016, 35mln respectively was invested in developing 3G and the initial development of 4G network in Serbia with Telenor planning to make 4G technology available to all mobile telephony users.

She went on to say that Telenor had tested 5G network because the company always wants to be ahead of its competition, and that it had managed to achieve the 1 gigabit data transfer rate.

CEO of Telenor Serbia mentioned that, last year, the company celebrated its 10th year of operations in Serbia, and underlined that Telenor had invested close to 2bln EUR in Serbia so far.

“This just demonstrates how committed we are to this market and determined to succeed in what we do. Digitalization is important to us and we want every single person in Serbia to be able to use all the advantages of being properly connected. It is very clear to us that only by continuing to invest, we are able to meet the needs and expectations of our clients”, CEO of Telenor Serbia added.
