Representatives of education unions have confirmed that they have accepted the Protocol proposed by the Serbian Government.
“The Protocol must be implemented within the set deadlines. We expect joint activities so what has been signed could also be implemented in the education system in order to improve the position of education workers and for the benefit of society as a whole. We believe that the reasons for our strike cease to exist once the Protocol is signed,” said the education unions.
The draft Protocol that the Serbian Government submitted to the education unions reads that education workers will be given a pay rise of 10 percent in January 2024, in addition to the October pay rise of 5.5 percent.
The Government also said in the draft Protocol that, thanks to the pay rise, the average net salary of educators in 2023 will be higher than the average salary in Serbia.
The Government added that the announced ten percent pay rise starting January 2024 will bring the starting teacher salary to 86,681 dinars (around 740 euros).
