Switzerland’s Regent Lighting to open a factory in Svilajnac

The Swiss company Regent Lighting has started building a lighting elements production plant, spanning 6,000 square metres in the initial stage, in Svilajnac.

To company plans to employ over 100 staff there, which will also act as support to the parent company in Basel.

Regent is already operating in Svilajnac, in a rented space of 1,000 square metres. The 6,000-square-metre-facility should be finished later this year.

Four foreign investors have already established their production facilities in Veliko Polje, one of the two industrial zones in Svilajnac.

These companies “are among the most successful companies in their respective economic segments, and Regent, a big name in the lighting sector, will solidify Svilajnac’s position as the economic leader of this part of Serbia,” said the president of the municipality, Predrag Milanovic.

He also said that he was proud of the industrial zone in Svilajnac and the “15 new investments we welcomed made in the last 12 years”.

Regent’s new factory, which is worth 10 million euro, will span a total 12,000 squares metres when finished and will be “one of the biggest projects not only for Svilajnac, but also for Serbia,” said the mayor.
