According to a survey conducted by the Institute for European Affairs, half of the Serbian citizens believe the US is the enemy of Serbia.
One-fourth of people in Serbia gave very low grades to Serbia-US relations while a third gave them a 3 out of a possible 5. Also, less than five per cent said those relations deserved top marks.
Half of the polled people see the US as an enemy, 22 per cent see it as a friend and 28 per cent said they have no opinion. Most of the people who see the US as the enemy are aged 60 or over, while the number of people sharing that view drops the higher their education.

A total of 57 per cent believe that Serbia should maintain good relations with both Russia and the US and 40.9 per cent what good relations with Russia while 4.3 per cent prefer good relations with the US.
Some 43 per cent believe that Serbia’s relations with the US will get better in the future. That view is held mainly by women and people over the age of 45.
A solution to the Kosovo issue is the thing that would help improve relations with the US according to 21.6 per cent of the polled while 12.8 per cent said they would improve if Kosovo is returned to Serbia, 10.8 per cent said an apology from NATO for the 1999 bombings along with war reparations and 8.1 per cent feel they would improve if Serbia joins the European Union.
Nearly half of Serbian citizens (49 per cent) think Donald Trump’s visit would improve Serbia-America relations, while 41 per cent think the opposite. It is mostly the citizens over the age of 45, those with only elementary education, as well as the respondents from Central Serbia who think that the visit would have positive effects.
According to the poll, 39.4 per cent of Serbians gets information about relations with the US from TV, 22.2 per cent from Internet portal, 16.4 per cent from print media and 9.7 per cent from social networks.
