State subsidies for the purchase of electric and hybrid vehicles abolished in 2021

The Ministry of the Environment announced on its website and in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia the abolition of subsidies for the purchase of electric and hybrid vehicles in 2021, as the total amount of funds has already been used.

“Interested parties are informed that the procedure for granting subsidies for the purchase of new vehicles with exclusively electric drive, as well as hybrid vehicles, is suspended. As of 13 August 2021, the receipt of applications for the subsidised purchase of new vehicles is suspended and the procedure for granting subsidies for 2021 has ended,” reads the notice published on the website.

For electric mopeds and tricycles, the state had allocated up to €250, and up to €5,000 for fully electric cars up to nine seats or light trucks.

For new electric motorbikes, the subsidy was 500 euros, and for hybrids, light trucks that had at least one electric motor in the hybrid system, 2,500 euros. For ‘plug-in’ hybrid cars the amount was 3,500 euros.

Most of the subsidy money was for the purchase of brand new electric cars. In this case, the subsidies amounted to as much as 5,000 euros.
