South Korea’s Essex Company to open 30mln EUR factory in Zrenjanin

The Zrenjanin City Council decided yesterday to sell seven hectares of land in the Industrial Zone Southeast 1 to the South Korean company Essex Balkan for EUR 242,000.

Although, the full market price of these three land plots (spanning 7 hectares in total) is EUR 580,000, the asking price was reduced with consent of the Government of Serbia.  There are a total of 550 hectares of land available in the industrial zone.

Mayor of Zrenjanin, Cedomir Janjic said that the South Korean company would invest EUR 30 million in the construction of the production facility that would employ between 160 and 170 people.

– We will sign the contract very soon and the construction of the facility is to start shortly – the mayor told the press.

The South Korean company Essex producers enamelled copper wires, cables and cable-related products.

– The talks with Essex took a very long time. We have managed to reach an agreement regarding all their requests and there’s nothing standing in the way of the realization of this investment anymore – Mayor of Zrenjanin, Cedomir Janjic pointed out.
