Siniša Mali on budget revision: nearly 30 billion dinars for healthcare, 25 billion for welfare

Serbian Finance Minister Siniša Mali said today that, despite all the global challenges, the Serbian economy is stable and growing, noting that the state currently has 600 billion dinars in its account, as well as record foreign exchange and gold reserves.

Speaking about the proposed 2026 budget revision, which was approved by the government on August 20, Mali said on Radio-Television Serbia that the largest allocations will go to healthcare – nearly 30 billion dinars – and social welfare – 25 billion dinars –, followed by agriculture and roads.

Investments in major infrastructure projects, such as Expo, the Morava Corridor and the Danube Highway, will also continue, Mali added, noting that the proposed budget revision will be presented to members of the Serbian parliament as early as next week.

Mali said that the budget revision would also enable the government to fulfil its promise of providing a one-off payment of 6,000 dinars to all adult citizens.

The finance minister said that another indicator of the stability of the economy was the fact that the state has 112.5 billion dinars in excess tax revenue.

This year, gross domestic product will exceed €95 billion for the first time, Mali said.
