Sinisa Mali and NALED meet to discuss bolstering business environment

Minister of Finance in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Sinisa Mali met today with NALED’s Executive Director, Violeta Jovanovic, with whom he discussed the priority measures for improving the business environment.

The topic of the discussion was concrete activities that going to be implemented by the end of 2018, with the aim of strengthening the position of the Republic of Serbia in the international competitiveness lists.

Another topic was the implementation of reform initiatives relating to combating the shadow economy and development of electronic governance, as well as the preparation of all institutions for implementation of fiscal assistance tools for beginners in business which should start on 1st October, 2018

Mali and Jovanovic agreed that that it is very important to continuously work on implementing measures that will help with suppressing shadow economy, and one of such measures is reducing income tax.

The reform of the Tax Administration will definitely contribute to combating shadow economy by making the Administration more efficient – Jovanovic and Mali concluded.

The Finance Minister also pointed out that another way of dealing with shadow economy is helping the beginners in business who, as of 1st October, this year are going to be entitled to tax incentives. The Minister also expressed his readiness to help by involving all necessary institutions in this measure, in order to encourage young people to start their own the business.

At the meeting, Jovanovic and Mali also discussed the new taxation system for the IT sector, and forming of a new working group that is supposed to help with that.

At the end of the meeting, the Minister of Finance concluded that it is important that the state takes all the necessary steps and measures to facilitate the economy, which further contributes to higher employment and better financial results of the Republic of Serbia.
