“The name Sheraton bears a special significance. It means that Novi Sad is good for business, that Serbia has become a desirable place for visits, and that it has become a place to be seen and felt. Apart from being a hotel hub, Novi Sad is also the centre of IT and creative industries in Serbia, the future youth capital of Europe and Europe’s culture capital. By continuously investing in tourist capacities, cultural and economic events, Novi Sad also became an important city break destination by which it raised the bar not only for Belgrade, but for other cities in Serbia”, the Prime Minister said at the opening.

Brnabic also pointed out that, in the first three months of this year, Serbia had 580,000 tourists, and 229 million euros, 12 percent more than in the same period last year.

The president of MK Group, Miodrag Kostic said that Sheraton would operate under the franchise of one of the most famous hotel corporations in the world, Marriott International.

“We are one of only three companies in Southeast Europe that have met the conditions for this franchise. We have created 120 new jobs, we employ more than 7,000 people in Serbia, and in the last 20 years, we invested more than 1 billion euros in our country”, Kostic added.

Speaking at the opening, Igor Mirovic, the Prime Minister of Vojvodina, said that the MK Group once again demonstrated humanity by donating an MRI scan to the Children’s Hospital in Novi Sad worth 8 million dinars.
