Serbia’s GDP declines 1.4% in third quarter

The real decline in Serbia’s gross domestic product (GDP) in the third quarter of this year, compared to the same period last year, was 1.4%, the State Statistical Office has said. GDP growth compared to the previous quarter was 7.4%.

Observed by activity, in the third quarter of 2020, and compared to the same period last year, the real decrease in gross value added was recorded in the construction sector (18%), wholesale and retail trade and repairing motor vehicles, transport and storage, food and accommodation services (3%) and in the sector of professional, scientific, innovative and technical activities and administrative and auxiliary services (7.9%).

Growth in gross value added was recorded in industry and water supply and wastewater management (3.2%) and in the information and communication sector (6%).

The decline in the Serbian GDP in the second quarter of this year was 6.4% compared to the same period of the previous year, and in the first quarter GDP growth was 5%.
