Serbia’s economic growth this year same as in Albania, Romania and Poland

Economic experts from around the world expect an average global GDP growth of 2.6 percent in 2024, according to a survey conducted quarterly by the German Institute IFO and the Swiss Institute for Economic Policy.

According to their projections, Serbia is ranked in the “middle” of the European growth scale, with the forecasted growth of between 2.5 and 3 percent this year, while this year’s “champions of growth in Europe” will be Montenegro and Iceland.

Particularly low growth rates are expected in Sweden (0.4 percent), Finland (0.4 percent), the United Kingdom (0.5 percent) and Germany (0.6 percent).

Apart from Germany, rather slow growth is expected in other key trade partners of Serbia – 0.9 percent is forecast in Austria, while growth of up to 1.5 percent is expected for Italy and France. Somewhat better forecasts are for Spain (2 percent), Poland and Ireland (2.8 percent) and Iceland (3.3 percent).

When it comes to our region, Montenegro is the only country for which economists forecast GDP growth of up to 3.5 percent.
