The Ministry of Information and Telecommunications announced today that, in the first nine months of 2024, the export of products and services in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector reached a remarkable value of €2.966 billion. This marks a 19 percent increase compared to the same period in the record-breaking year of 2023, when exports totalled €2.497 billion.
The statement notes that the export data for the ICT sector for the first nine months of this year was published by the National Bank of Serbia.
In September 2024 alone, ICT service exports amounted to €338 million, a 20 percent increase compared to the same month in 2023. The trade surplus in ICT services for the first nine months of this year stands at an impressive €2.319 billion.
To recap, ICT product and service exports in the first five months of this year were €1.6 billion, reflecting a 20.5 percent increase compared to the same period in the previous record-setting year, when the total ICT export value was €3.4 billion. According to the MIT’s statement, the ICT sector continues to be Serbia’s fastest-growing industry, significantly contributing to the improvement of citizens’ living standards, the overall development of the state, and the steady growth of GDP.
The National Bank of Serbia previously released data on ICT service exports for the first two months of 2024, with the primary observation being that exports are continuing to grow robustly—an excellent result, especially considering the sector’s growth throughout the previous year. At that time, it was also noted that the ICT sector is one of Serbia’s fastest-growing economic branches, achieving a significant trade surplus in service exports.
