Serbian high school students win Balkan Mathematics Olympiad

Out of 11 official and seven visiting teams, the team of Serbia’s high school students won the first place at the 37th Balkan Mathematical Olympics, the Association of Mathematicians of Serbia said on Thursday.

It added that the students of the Belgrade Mathematical Gymnasium won two gold and three silver medals, while a bronze medal went to a student from the southern city of Niš.

The competition was held online from October 30 to November 5, and was organised by the Romanian Mathematical Association.

Dobrica Jovanović and Igor Engi from the Mathematical Gymnasium in Belgrade won a gold medal each, while students from the same school, Uroš Čolović, Mateja Vukelić and Miloš Milićev won silver medals. Jovan Arizanović from the Svetozar Marković Gymnasium in Niš won a bronze medal.
