The Serbian Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications has signed a confidentiality agreement with Alibaba under which the parties cannot disclose information about the course of the talks on cooperation to the public, says Tatjana Matic, state secretary in the ministry.
“After the talks are completed, we will issue a joint statement about what we hope will be successful results and further steps in strengthening the cooperation,” Matic said.

State Secretary Tatjana Matić reminded that in September, at the meeting with the Vice President Alibaba, Helen Hu, and the company’s team for European operations, it was agreed to finalize all the plans by the year-end with the ultimate goal being implementing the electronic payment platform, Alipay in Serbia and promoting Serbia as a tourist destination in China.
It is expected that Alibaba’s Fligy platform will significantly contribute to the promotion of Serbia as a tourist destination, but also make it easier for Chinese tourists to come to Serbia.
Alibaba’s digital platform is particularly important due to the fact that the number of Chinese tourists coming to Serbia increased by 180.8% compared to 2016, while in the first half of this year alone, relative to the same period last year, the increase was 97%.
