Under this year’s Regulation on subsidised purchases of new electric vehicles, the Serbian government has envisaged incentives ranging from 250 to 5,000 euros, as published in the Official Gazette.
All legal entities and private individuals are eligible for these subsidies, exclusively for new electric-powered vehicles that have not previously been registered.
The amount of the subsidy depends on the vehicle category:
- For mopeds and light tricycles (categories L1 and L2), the incentive amounts to 250 euros;
- For motorcycles, heavy tricycles and quadricycles (categories L3–L7), 500 euros is provided;
- For passenger vehicles (up to nine seats) and light commercial vehicles (categories M1 and N1), the subsidy amounts to 5,000 euros;
All amounts are paid in dinar equivalents at the middle exchange rate of the National Bank of Serbia on the day of payment, and the subsidy may also be used as a down payment for financial leasing.
A new feature of this year’s programme is that applications will be submitted electronically via the eUprava Portal, starting from 1 March 2026.
Funds for these purposes will be allocated until 30 September 2026, in the order in which complete applications are received, or until the total available funds are exhausted.
The Minister of Environmental Protection, Sara Pavkov, previously stated that the ministry would inform the public in a timely manner if the allocated funds of 170 million dinars are spent before the deadline.
“We will make every effort to ensure that the subsidy allocation process, as in previous years, continues, and that we secure additional funds for these purposes,” Pavkov said.
This is the sixth consecutive year in which Serbia has subsidised the purchase of electric vehicles, and last year as well, 170 million dinars were allocated from the state budget.
