The price of natural gas for consumers in Serbia will be capped until May 2024 and will remain the same as the price of gas on November 1st this year.
In case of sudden changes/disturbances in the market, the government will cover the difference between the new and the old price to producers and importers from the state budget.
This is provided for in the ordinance as a temporary measure to limit the price of gas. The regulation applies exclusively to the quantities of natural gas intended for consumption on the territory of Serbia.
In line with the agreement Serbia reached with the International Monetary Fund pertaining to a loan granted to Serbia, the government undertook to do a step-by-step increase in retail gas prices, with the latest going into effect on November 1 at the rate of 10 percent. This means that from this date forward, gas will cost 5.02 dinars per kilowatt hour with taxes and fees included, Serbian media reported earlier this week.
To remind, Bulgaria imposed additional taxes on the import and transport of Russian gas in the amount of 20 levs (around EUR 10) per megawatt-hour which affects the price of gas for Serbia too.
