Serbian budget records close to EUR 260mln surplus in January

Serbian budget recorded a 30.2-billion-dinar (257.6 million euro) surplus at the end of January, compared to a surplus of 6.1 billion dinars the same month a year earlier, the finance ministry said.

Total budget revenues rose by a real 15% on the year to 173 billion dinars in January, while expenditure went down to 142.8 from 144.2 billion dinars, data from the country’s finance ministry showed on Wednesday.

Tax revenues increased by a real annual 10.9% to 150.8 billion dinars, non-tax revenues grew 59% year-on-year to 21.2 billion dinars, and grants rose slightly to 1.034 billion dinars from 1.013 billion dinars.

On the expenditure side, capital expenditure increased to 18.1 billion dinars from 17.1 billion dinars.

At the end of 2023, Serbia’s consolidated budget deficit stood at 179.3 billion dinars.
