Serbia records highest tourism revenue growth in the world

Serbia has emerged as the global leader in tourism revenue growth in the first quarter of 2024, with a staggering 127% increase compared to the same period in 2019, said the Serbian Ministry of Tourism.

According to the latest report from the World Tourist Organization (UNWTO), several destinations have seen remarkable tourism performance this year, but Serbia stands out as the only country to achieve triple-digit growth in tourism revenue.

Foreign currency earnings from tourism reached EUR 575 million in Q1 of this year, with a notable 10% increase in arrivals and a 5% increase in overnight stays by foreign tourists. Coupled with forecasts indicating high accommodation occupancy rates for the remainder of the year, Serbia is poised for a record-breaking year in tourism.
