Serbia is looking for 20.000 “Expo Playmakers”

At the event “Volunteering? Changing the Game,” held at the Expo 2027 Playground, the volunteer program “Expo Playmakers” was officially presented today, along with a campaign inviting young people to become part of the largest international event in the coming year.

Applications for volunteers at Expo 2027 will be open starting May 15, 2026, via the official Expo 2027 Belgrade website. The program is open to all candidates aged 18 and above, both from Serbia and abroad. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in 48 different roles, develop practical skills, and become part of an international team that will deliver the event over the course of 93 days.

Addressing the audience, the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia and Minister of Finance, Sinisa Mali, emphasized that the Expo 2027 volunteer program also brings concrete educational value. “We will follow European Union practices, meaning that students who volunteer for more than 15 days will be eligible to receive between one and three ECTS credits, giving this experience formal recognition within the education system,” Mali stated.

Special attention at the event was drawn by the ambassadors of the volunteer program, celebrated athletes Tijana Bogdanović and Milan Glušac, who highlighted the importance of behind-the-scenes support based on their personal experience. Glušac noted that volunteers are often the first to welcome athletes and that their energy directly influences the atmosphere of competitions. “They are always there, smiling and dedicated, and they transfer that energy to us. It truly makes a difference,” he said, emphasizing that Expo 2027 is an opportunity for volunteers to present the best image of Serbia to the world.

The event was further enriched by the presence of Persida Miljkovic, the oldest volunteer in Serbia, whose participation symbolically highlighted that Expo 2027 connects all generations.

Through a partner-based benefits system, participants will have access to numerous perks from 27% discounts on airline tickets with Air Serbia to special offers from Telekom Srbija, further positioning volunteering as both a personal and professional investment.
