Serbia currently has 647 migrants in reception centres

A total of 647 migrants are accommodated in 16 reception and asylum centers in Serbia, the Serbian Commissariat for Refugees and Migration told the Beta news agency.

According to the Commissariat data, a total of 6,005 migrants have been registered this year, which is a drop of 70.65 percent compared to the same period last year.

“The top five countries of origin for migrants registered in 2024 are: Syria (43.25 percent), Afghanistan (27.41 percent), Morocco (6.88 percent), Pakistan (3.74 percent), and Turkey (3.17 percent),” said the Commissariat.

There were 108,828 migrants registered in reception and asylum centers in 2023, which is a 12 percent decrease compared to the previous year.

The Commissariat “has one of the best-organized systems for reception and management of migrations, with current occupancy in centers below 70 percent,” said its representatives, adding that the migration situation in Serbia is stable.
