Serbia placed ninth in the world on the latest Doing Business list, released by the World Bank, in the category of issuing building permits, far ahead of the other countries of the region, announced the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure.

On this global list, Serbia is the only country from the region to make it to the top 10. The top 50 features North Macedonia (15th), Montenegro (40th) and Bulgaria (43th).

The other countries placed below the 100th place – Hungary (108th), Slovenia (119th), Romania (147th), Croatia (150th), Albania (166th) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (173rd).

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction Zorana Mihajlovic said that Serbia had climbed from the 186th to the ninth spot in only several years.

“Serbia is a successful example of reform implementation and a good example for other countries in the region, demonstrating that, if they work hard and diligently, they can compete with the best in the world,” said Mihajlovic.
